Sunbathing vs Spray Tan

This is one of my favorite topics, mostly because I love me some sun and tanning ♡

I completely understand why some are against tanning beds, but if you are wanting that nice tan skin for your wedding day – just jump into a bed a few times prior babe. One, you won’t have tan lines or help get rid of ones you may have. This is something you MUST pay attention to especially if you are a summer bride. I’m talking to my lovely Apple watch wearers LOL We can always blend that in, but I always tell my brides to be mindful when wearing it outside and being in the sun.

Yes, spray tans have come a long way. Can they look good? Absolutely, but your wedding day isn’t a day to play around with “new” things my dear. My new rule is going to be – if you plan on spray tanning, have your trial run with that then come have your makeup trial run done 3 days later. Believe me, I’ve learned from doing fitness competitions that once you spray tan your face and you don’t wash it properly and/or apply self-tanners, the makeup won’t lay. It has potential to become patchy / cakey looking. It won’t blend out and, in some cases, it will leave behind a “grey” overcast on the skin. This isn’t the frustrating part though. It’s when I’m questioning my client about it and they straight up lie to me. Baby, I’m not mad if you used a self-tanner or got your face spray tanning, but I must know so I know what to use on your skin for the makeup application. DHA is the main component in spray tans that creates the skin to “tan” and it does come with cons. The DHA has been known to dry out some skin textures creating flakiness on the skin for makeup applications. If a self-tanner is used on the face and not washed properly or allowing at least 8 hours for the DHA to fully develop, or we could run into streaking makeup. It’s also been known to work against most oil-based products which I do like me some oil-based products – not all though.

I’m a huge fan of getting in the tanning bed – for mental and physical pros, they outweigh the cons currently. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to the tanning bed daily ladies – HELL NO lol I’d be a piece of leather! I like to go every 4-5 days. I don’t buy monthly packages, just a few tans because that’s all I really need or want. I am a carnosaur when it comes to finding the BEST beds around possible – which a lot of places near me like to give excuses as to why beds are broken (and have been broken for months/years), prices go up but bulbs never get changed, etc. but I believe I’ve find the one now. -`♡´- I drive almost 30 minutes to get to the salon, but it’s worth it and again, I’m maybe going twice a week or at least once a week.

Bring on the sunshine ☀ that’s what I really want (and sand between my toes) but sadly I don’t feel comfortable laying outside nor do I own a pool – so sunbathing in the yard is out and I really am not a fan of tan lines hahaha

This is all just my outward thinking passed on to my brides to take in. You can run with this information, or you can say forget it to it all. Either way, I’ll match your skin tones like perfect love and blend, blend, BLEND!
